Druk Yul, the Land of the Thunder Dragon is a remote and small Kingdom in the Himalaya region which held its first democratic elections on March 24th, 2008. It is home to one of the most unique cultures in the world. Bhutan with its breathtaking sights, friendly people, scenic countryside and unspoilt nature got a firm place in my heart and mind.

The Paro Festival (Tshechu) is a highlight. All Tshechus are religious festivals with dances (chams) and music. Most of the dances are performed by monks and with wonderful dresses and masks. Paro Festival lasts five days and is beautiful and colorful.
Third section of book, I travel to Bhutan to find a Buddhist master. This is a ceremony at the Burning Lake to honor a terton or treasure finder, Pema Lingpa. Two minutes later, we were attacked by bees!

Some people of the Himalayas! The pics from the "road crews from India" were taken from a moving bus that is the reason for the blurred result. You will see the road is mostly constucted by hand, pounding rocks to make gravel, sifting dirt to make sand, hand forming curbs, boiling tar...amazing! The other pics speak for themselves...enjoy!
